Overview
Swannanoa Valley Christian Ministry (SVCM) engaged a creative team to develop a cohesive brand identity that could serve both their general ministry and their Crisis Ministry division. My role was as art director and brand consultant — responsible for the strategic and compliance layer of the project, with visual execution handled by Kaleidoscopic Creative.
Skills Demonstrated
Brand strategy · Art direction · Typography selection · Color system design · WCAG 2.1 AA compliance · Icon design · Technical writing · Brand guidelines authorship
What I Did
Brand Direction — Defined creative direction for the wordmark, color palette, and typography system.
ADA Compliance Review — Audited brand assets against WCAG 2.1 AA standards, verified contrast ratios, and resolved compliance gaps before final delivery.
Crisis Ministry Sub-Brand — Designed a custom icon suite and wordmark concept for SVCM's Crisis Ministry division, cohesive with the parent brand while visually distinct.
Brand Guidelines Addendum — Authored an addendum to the primary guidelines covering Crisis Ministry usage rules, icon application, and color guidance written for non-designer audiences.
Scope of Credit
Visual execution of the primary SVCM identity system — including logo construction, layout, and production files — was completed by Kaleidoscopic Creative. The following are original work: Crisis Ministry icon suite, Crisis Ministry wordmark concept, ADA compliance review and documentation, brand guidelines addendum, and 50th anniversary collateral.
